Curious Case of Sagar–Runi Murder (Part 4)

Six months have gone by. The investigation of the gruesome murder of two popular media personality Sagar and Runi has not advanced even an inch. No suspects could be arrested, no clues could be established. Poor Megh has started asking painful unanswerable questions about her parents. What answers the nation and its policy makers have for this innocent unfortunate child. Why investigation agencies police, RAB failed to even establish any clue though Prime Minister and Home Minister promised of prompt actions immediately after murder?

The Maasranga TV Talk show clippings anchored by Sagar Sarowar on 16th January 2012 and featuring this author and Prof Anu Mohammad makes feel that Sagar is looking at us from somewhere. Last month while visiting Megh at his grandmother’s place this writer was wearing black Afghani Salwar–Kurta which initially panicked Megh. Later when he calmed down he told that he is scared of black dress hinting his disliking of black dress of possibly RAB. We had no answer to few questions that Runi’s mother, brother and even Megh raised. Will their quest for nabbing of killers and punishment according to law will go unnoticed? Will the murder case go into deep freeze like similar other cases? Even the journalist community is not much vocal now. Perhaps they are no longer hopeful of anything positive happening too soon now.

What happened to ATN Bangla chief’s dirty references about Runi [attempted Character assassination] at London? What appeared in friendly chat in the name of interrogation with him? In the recent past police could find the alleged killers of the Saudi Diplomat. But nothing progressed about Sagar–Runi murder though like a parrot Home Minister reassured of positive development and pledged to bring the killers under law soon.

We strongly feel that Megh should be taken away from the suffocating environment as soon as possible. Some well wishers of the couple from Germany and Australia advanced a lot in migrating Megh there. He must be allowed to grow freely in a better environment. Germany can be ideal as he lived there for a while with his parents. The more and more he sees his parent’s photographs and hears discussion about his parents the more shocks he will get. From my first hand experience I found how panicked he gets from black dress obviously of RAB. We heard talks of counseling him for probable questioning by RAB. What a grief stricken 6 years old boy can tell? Is not it a torture on this innocent child?

We wonder what Prime Minister of Bangladesh is thinking about it? This Eid all children those who have will have parents love will get that. PM will definitely miss her parents, her brothers, little Russell. She will definitely feel how Megh must be feeling. She can at least have some consolation that she could see punishment of the killers. But it is sad that despite of her clear instruction killers of Sagar-Runi are still at large. We, well wishers of the Journalist couple once again in a chorus demand immediate arrest of suspected killers and exemplary punishment.
